Russia FIFA World Cup 2018 - Day 4

17/6/2018

Comments

Good morning folks! Pretty much our predictions are spot on although Lady Luck turned her back in a few tips so far. No hard feelings and I can't wait for today's games!

Costa Rica - Serbia. Experience vs Youth describes this game and it's going to be a tough one for me to predict.
The Costa Ricans once again are present in the world cup with the same ''team's recipe'' but.... a little bit ''matured'' this time. Main strength used to be the solid defensive style and effective counter attacks. The reason I say ''used to be'', it's simply because I don't see them defending lately as good as before.
The Serbians though look a more ''refreshed'' team with a good mix of young and talented players, but their lack of experience cost them a few lost games in the past.
If the ''old fox'' Costa Rica defend effectively today they could get away with a win of 1-0 score but if not, Serbia could win this game with a 2-1 score.

Germany - Mexico. The ''German Machine'' is not working as flawless as before. There are weaknesses in their defence and the latest interference of the Turkish Prime Minister in the matter of 2 ''German players'', raised a hell of issues for the team. More likely, those 2 players won't make the first 11 player to start today's game.
Mexico in the other hand, is not in a great form lately as a ''whole team'' although, most of  the key players, individually perform greatly in their clubs in North and South America leagues. I think Mexico's manager struggles to make things work in the team and this could be their downfall in the tournament.
My Main tip is Over 2.5 goals and the value is very good up to 1.86 at the moment on Betfair's Exchange. Germany could over come their own problems and win with a dramatic score 3-2 or a ''cruising'' and easy 4-1 score.

Brazil - Switzerland. I don't have many things to say about this match. If there's some justice in this football world, then the Argentina's and Peru's drama won't be repeated in this game.
The Swiss are a good side but not a match for the Brazilians. I predict score 2-0 or 3-1.

Best of Luck to your teams!

Fifa World Cup 2018 - Russia
Not long now folks! One of the most celebrated football events take place in Russia this year. In tournaments like World Cup, we have seen many ''unexpected'' surprises in the past. Meaning? I am talking of ''popular outsiders'' teams to make it through the Group stages to the next round, and ''undefeated favourites'' to leave the competition early.
Once again, this competition would not be different from the previous ones. There's no way all the ''favourites'' to qualify from the group stages to the next round and certainly we will see other teams surprising us.
What To Look For ? Teams which defend effectively, have great chances of making it to the next round. Tactics matter during the group stages and is proven in the past over and over again.
What To Avoid or Bet Against ?
Teams which are considered clear favourites but their recent form shows they have been struggling to win or/and conceding many goals recently.

Russia - Saudi Arabia. It's tradition for the hosts of the competition to do the ''grand opening''. The Bookmakers could not undervalue the Saudi Arabians more. The Russians are not the great team used to be once upon a time and Arabians coped well recently against strong teams such as Italy and Germany. My estimate is 2-3 goals in this game and scores 2-1 and 1-1 for inplay trading. (Lost)

Egypt - Uruguay. ''Important competitions are for important players''. My mention is for no other than Salah, that Egyptian great player which all fans look forward to seeing him playing if manages to recover in-time for the opening game. Egypt as a team though it's an enigma. Their performance has many ups and downs and morale is easily shaken in absence of key players. At the other side of the pitch, Uruguay's stars need no introductions and is the clear favourite in this game. Having said that, defence has been always their struggle but lately they defend brilliantly without losing their effectiveness in attack. Could that means the return of Uruguay to the top spots of the competition of they will flap again? If Salah plays that would be a concern for the Latins and I expect a tough game. My prediction is Under 2.5 goals and scores 0-1 & 1-1. (Won)

Morocco - Iran. Game is on! The Moroccans are in a fab form even without their star player Nabil Dinar who is suffering from an injury and is a race now to be fit for the opening game. The Iranians on the other had received ''devastating news'' from Nike that is a business decision with immediate effect to discontinue supplying them with shoes. The Iran's team coach stated this is a very serious problem as the players ''have used to'' their equipment. (Really? lol) The players of Iran though don't look very concerned. They arrived in style in Moscow. Wearing  their Dolce & Cabana ''playboy'' style suits are having fun and focusing on perfect selfies photos.  This game gathers a big chance for for draw although I give the edge to Morocco.  I will be surprised to see early or many goals in this game and subsequently I go for Under 2.5 goals and scores 1-0 & 1-1. (Half Won)

Spain v Portugal. What a game! A classic derby between two arrivals with  great football history and achievements. I agree with Bookies that Spain has an edge as they look more composed and complete as a team. The European Champions of 2016 are a question mark for me in this competition. They don't play great football but they manage to get the results by having Lady Luck on their side many times. Will this continue in this competition? 1-0 & 1-1 scores in this game. I wouldn't bother investing on Under 2.5 goals as an early goal could dynamite this game. (Half won - Lay Under 2.5 goals or avoid)

France - Australia. Are the French serious this time? I hope so because they got the most awesome squad in their last 10 years! The Ausies on the other hand rely a lot in teamwork and it works! My prediction is that Ausies could go through to the next stage with 4 points second after France. I have changed my mind since the last time I tipped this game. Could be a humiliating defeat for the Aussies? Could the history repeat itself? Am not sure about this to be honest but if you want invest small bets on Over 2.5 goals as main tip, 0-0 and 2-1 scores for inplay/trading the return could be Gold!  (Won)

Argentina - Iceland. I respect the Vikings from the North and they are such a joyful team with awesome fans but I fear they are no match for Argentina. One way or another the Argentinians can win this game. Handicap -2 for Argentina and scores 3-1 & 4-2. (Lost)

Peru - Denmark.  I am not sure why the odds are favouring Denmark and Peru is considered the ''outsider''. The Peruvians are more consistent and with Guerrero back to their ranks, are a strong side. The Danish are a good team but they lack of quality and ''star players''. I think Danes will be lucky to escape with a Draw in this game and I split the bets between draw and scores 1-1 & 1-0 for inplay cashout/trading.  (Lost)

Croatia - Nigeria. Super Eagles are underestimated but this what they want. These words come from the Nigerian players who look ready for the upcoming game. The Croatians do not impress me a lot although they have a few very good players. Against the odds I like the Under 2.5 goals in this game and scores 0-1 & 2-0 for inplay/cashout. (Won)

Norwegian Eliteserien - Are the hosts in troubles today?

Hello folks. Almost 50% of the
games ended with home wins this season so far and this is an
extraordinary fact. Having said that and after looking the today's
games schedule, the results could be different.

Lillestrom - Odd. Match of the Day  in my view  between two teams which share strengths and weaknesses. Both of them performed unexpectedly well in recent Cup games against top teams Brann and Rosenborg and did not lose. I expect an open game with at least 3 goals. The Over 2.5 goals  market pays out generously on Betfair exchange today at price nearly 2.00 (Evens). Feeling adventurous? The game could end up with a draw of 2-2 or 3-3 score.

Sandefjord - Haugesund. I am a bit ''surprised'' to see the hosts at the last place of the leader-board. I think today they are in troubles against Haugesund's recent good form. Over 2.5 goals is my tip an I would extend the value to visitor's win with Over 2.5 goals.

Ranheim - Sarpsborg
. What a surprise by Renheim! They enjoy sitting on the 3rd top spot but Sarpsborg will try to ruin this today. Its a big game for sure and draw gathers high chances. Although I favour the Over 2.5 goals market, it worth a punt on 1-2 & 2-2 scores. I value the visitors' slightly more because of their experience in getting results in derbies.

Stabaek - Bodo/Glimt. The home team is in crisis. They can't get the right results. Either they will score few to many goals but they will concede more, or either they won't score at all and again will drop point(s). Bodo in the other hand, are distancing themselves from the relegation zone by one way or another and that is pretty much what they want.
I think that anything could happen in this game today and I quite can't out my finger on it. Against the odds, this game could finish with Under 2.5 goals result.

Start - Stromsgodset. Typical Start which hardly ''starts well'' the season and sweating all the way to the end, trying to avoid the relegation. In last home game, they won Bodo with score 1-0. That was a huge and unexpected surprise for the worst defence of the league so far, to keep a clean sheet. Did they finally figure out a way to stop conceding goals at least when they play at home? The visitors are a big disappointment  so far and if they can't win this game then subsequently are getting in troubles. Once again, I will go against the odds and prefer the Under 2.5 goals rather the low price of the Over 2.5 goals.

Brann - Valerenga
. The hosts look serious this year, undefeated in 12 games so far and 6 points ahead of the ''monopoly'' champions Rosenborg. The visitors are high on the leader board but their performances in away games is a concern. A good performance by Brann could lead easily to a win but will they maintain their good run? 2-3 goals is my tip for this game.
